Kia ora,
I am Daniel Perese (He/Him), a second-year journalism student from the New Zealand Broadcasting School at Ara Institute of Canterbury.
During my time at the school, I found my true strength and passion is being a leader. I have been a Chief Reporter multiple times and I was one of the two Producers for TV Metronews.
My story telling passion lies within the community itself. To tell a happy story about a cafe opening at midnight or to tell a social issue about a smell that is affecting a whole city, that is where I find my journalistic passion.
I pride myself on my reliability, communication skills, attitude, teamwork, motivation and openness to learning.
Being the only Pacific Islander in my cohort, I understand how much diversity means in a newsroom and when telling a story.
Like the media industry, I am always looking at improving myself, and my skills. I can take on criticism and apply it towards my professional/personal life which in turn, allows me to become my best self.
