Kia Ora, ko Caitlin Clarke toku ingoa.

I’m fascinated by the ever-evolving media landscape. The industry is seeing new challenges presented by a growing mix of communication channels, where audience reach is difficult and fact itself is being contested. This poses problems but also comes with opportunities for adaptation and innovation. It’s a time of growth and diversification of the ways content is produced and distributed. This is what excites me about entering the journalism space now.

I value journalism because it’s a licence to explore and share perspective about the complex, fascinating and diverse world we live in. Honest and balanced journalism can have a net positive effect and I wish to be a part of it, putting my time and energy into something that has purpose.

New Zealand is a small yet diverse place and I love the quirky and compelling stories that lurk in its many hills, corners and communities. I love the bizarre and hope to shine a light on quiet heroes and norm-breakers who are fascinating, thought provoking and who can often inspire change.

I am also fascinated by the collective idiosyncrasies of the human condition. No matter the story I think there will always be an element of this that evokes a sense of interest from readers. I hope to share stories that challenge thinking, inform and give a window to broader realities.

During my studies I’ve been drawn to writing about education, woman’s health issues and climate change, areas which I’m passionate about and wish to gain more expertise in.

I thrive under pressure and am drawn to new experiences. I’m curious, flexible, reliable, passionate, and eager to learn.

I can’t wait to be part of a news team and am looking forward to working hard and getting involved.
