A drive is underway to get Christchurch City Council onboard with an "event express" before the first game at One New Zealand Stadium.
Mainland Rail will present their plan to get those from Rangiora, Rolleston and possibly Ashburton into the city for major events.
They have support from private investors and KiwiRail.
They say the privately owned train could be up and running before the opening of the stadium next April, with fans arriving at a platform on Moorehouse Ave.
The platform would be just over a one kilometre walk to the new stadium.
