Large building fire sending smoke across Christchurch

A large building fire is sending black smoke billowing across Christchurch East.

Multiple police and ten fire trucks are in attendance.

Around 50 employees from surrounding businesses have been evacuated onto Maces Road and the neighbouring garden reserve.

Fire and Emergency NZ said in a statement they are responding to a large building fire in Maces Road, Bromley.

“If the smoke is impacting your property, please close all doors and windows.”

“Please stay away from the area to allow our crews to safely extinguish this fire.”

A different fire in the Bottlelake forest area is a controlled burnoff.
