Is your dog the cutest in Christchurch? If you think your pooch has the potential, just enter a picture of them in the Hammonds' Imagery "Christchurch's Cutest Dog Contest" competition by April 10.

Winners will be decided in a public voting process over a week, starting from April 11. The competition has a range of prizes up for grabs, including a professional dog photoshoot from competition organiser Kyle Hammond.

Kyle, a 27-year-old originally from the UK, says the competition is about dog owners having fun.

"The contest is all about celebrating the amazing dogs of Christchurch while giving owners a fun way to show them off.

"I wanted to give locals a chance to win a professional photoshoot of their furry friend and get other local pet businesses involved in the fun too."

He has been a professional photographer since 2018, and says he started out shooting anything and everything.

"I quickly decided that dog photography was what I wanted to do exclusively.

"I genuinely believe it is one of the coolest jobs ever!"

Kyle says after losing his Doberman unexpectedly a few years ago, he regretted not having a good high-quality image to remember him by.

"This is really where the passion comes from for me, I want everyone to have the most stunning images of their dogs showing their unique personalities to treasure forever because they unfortunately aren't here forever."

Kyle says the response from Christchurch dog owners has been overwhelmingly positive.

"The response has been great so far, and I'm excited to see Christchurch dog owners getting involved.

"I am really blown away with how the Christchurch community has gotten behind the contest."

There have been hundreds of entries so far, with a range of dog breeds. Kyle says he cannot wait to share them when the voting process starts in a few days.

"There are some real cuties in there."

The main prize is a premium dog photography package, valued at $795. Kyle says runner-up prizes will be announced in the coming days, and will be in partnership with some local businesses.
