Christchurch Cup Week is underway

Imogen Brophy

Christchurch racing fans are gearing up for a busy Cup week.

Friday night saw the event kick off with the World Driving Championships at Addington Raceway.

Tomorrow sees the IRT Trotting Cup Day take place with some exciting additions on the infield this year.

Infield is the new 'party zone' in the centre of the track featuring music and exclusive bars. Entertainment includes music from Savage, General Lee and Shapeshifter.

Food trucks, George FM rave room and an exclusive Hyoketsu bar will be part of the experience. The new 'Grey Goose Terrace' and 'The Ned Lawn' have been added to further improve the experience.

However, areas from last year, including 'ZM on the Green', 'Monte Carlo' and 'Monkey King' Marquees, are no longer available.

Tickets to hospitality areas are all sold out.

Thursday will see greyhounds take the track, followed by horses again for the Twilight races the next day. Cup week will be rounded out by the Oaks and Derby races on November 21st.
