Kia ora,
My name is Emily, I'm a second year journalism student at the NZ Broadcasting School.
It has always been a goal of mine to pursue a career that allows me to inform, educate, and entertain. Consuming content within the realm of news and current affairs is a past time which started from a young age - attending the Broadcasting School has felt like a very natural step. I strongly believe in what journalism stands for, and to have the ability to work in this space and make a difference by doing a good job, is something I am working hard to achieve.
So far I have gravitated towards health, cultural, political and social issue stories. I also thoroughly enjoyed the court and radio reporting parts of the course, and loved news reading on the student radio station.
All these align with my natural interests, however my ultimate goal is to be versatile. Over the next couple years, I hope to continue to learn and acquire a range of different skills, by shadowing/covering a range of different types of stories and projects.
I am open to any kind of internship that would help me to fulfill this, and allow me to continue to work in a positive, upbeat, team environment.
