Kia Ora!
Ko Aimee Stanton tōku ingoa. I am from right here in Ōtautahi Christchurch.
My dream has always been to surround myself with people all day every day, I just never knew how that would come about. After hearing about the opportunity to study journalism at the New Zealand Broadcasting School, I knew it was where I had to go.
My time here has taught me so much about who I am. I have learned so much about the art of journalism, finding my passion for producing and news reading.
I have always had a huge interest in the arts and crime, but I won’t let a good story go untold. I love hunting out unique stories- the ones people didn’t know they wanted to hear.
A highlight has been working with the team at Single Fin Mingle to get a first exclusive on the post-event coverage of the 2025 festival.
People are the driving force behind all I do. Journalism fuels my drive through the people centric nature of the job.
Trying new ways to tell stories is something I am pushing myself to do. I don’t want to confine myself to one way of publishing stories. There is so much outreach across a variety of new and old mediums that need to be harnessed.
I could not be more excited to see what the future of journalism holds.
Second chance for student art
Two friends have banded together to uplift and support young artists in Ōtautahi, and now across Aotearoa.
