Gordon re-elected as Waimakariri Mayor

Incumbent Mayor Dan Gordon has just been re-elected for the 2025 elections.  Waimakariri District Council

Incumbent Dan Gordon has been re-elected as the mayor of Waimakariri, defeating Paul Williams.

With a 9,335 vote lead, in a statement Gordon said he was humbled to be re-elected and would continue to work hard for the community.

Waimakariri’s three wards have seen changes in councillors, with six returning representatives and four being newly elected.

The Rangiora-Ashley Ward saw two new councillors voted in. Wendy Doody and Bruce Mclaren will be joining recurring members Jason Goldsworthy and Joan Ward.

The Kaiapoi-Woodend Ward has two incumbents, Brent Cairns and Philip Redmond, with Shona Powell and Tim Bartle joining them.

And the Oxford-Ohoka ward remains the same with Niki Mealings and Tim Fulton keeping their previous council positions.

Waimakariri’s voter turnout was 37.08%, down from 44.6% at the last election.
