Today's update on New Zealand's COVID-19 cases

Today New Zealand's total number of COVID-19 cases has increased by five new confirmed cases of COVID-19: two confirmed and three probable. The total is now 1456.

Director of public health Dr Caroline McElnay said one of the cases was linked to overseas travel, three to clusters and one still being investigated.

There has been one further death at the Rosewood rest home. The man was on the hospital level of the rest home and had pre-existing health conditions.

There are now eight people in hospital with COVID-19, including one person in ICU. There are 379 people now recovered from COVID-19, who are considered to be part of a cluster.

Dr McElnay said there have been 1095 people who have now recovered from the virus.

Another new record of daily tests was completed yesterday, with 6961 tests completed.
