A four-wheel-drive truck towing a trailer has plowed through a large concrete wall after failing to turn at a roundabout on the corner of Northwood Boulevard and Mounter Ave.
The owners of the property were at home when the crash happened. They called emergency services at about 2pm.
Police at the scene confirmed that one man had been taken to Christchurch hospital by ambulance.
Rafaella Lira, who lives opposite where the crash happened, said she was outside her home when she heard the truck trying to break.
She said the driver was talking and was not bleeding. He was, however, trapped in the vehicle and in a state of shock.
Lira saw the vehicle getting out of control.
Two fire engines and one ambulance attended the crash.
