Sharlotte Lucas takes top honours at Le Race

Sharlotte Lucas has broken the women's course record in Saturday's Le Race between Christchurch and Akaroa

Christchurch cyclist Sharlotte Lucas said her local knowledge of the course helped her secure her third win at Saturday's Le Race event.

The 24-year-old broke the women's course record in the 100 kilometre race between between Christchurch and Akaroa.

Lewis says she staked her claim for the race in last descent and it was her local knowledge of the downhill segments that won it for her.

Lucas is now continuing with her preparation for races in the United States and Europe throughout winter.
