Haeata Community College's temporary closure has lifted today after classes were suspended due to suspected viral gastroenteritis.

Principal Andy Kai Fong said students must be free of symptoms for at least 48 hours before returning to school.

A small number of staff were affected by the illness, but their roles continued to be covered by the local relief pool.
