The crash occurred around 7.15am on the stretch of Marshlands Rd between Chenery Avenue and Main North Road.
A hospital spokesperson said the person was "in a comfortable condition" in Christchurch Hospital.
The last vehicle was cleared at 7.45am and the road was fully re-opened just before 8am.
