On Tuesday at midday, the Christchurch Cathedral was alive with the sounds of Bach, Mendelssohn, Leighton, and many others.

Christchurch Transitional Cathedral music director John Linker curated the programme with a mix of organ favourites to pieces associated with lent.

Linker, who moved to New Zealand in 2015, said he felt "grateful to be living in a country where we are able to have events like this".

The holy week and Easter events did not take place last year because of the Covid-19 Lockdown.

An audience member described the show as "an absolute success and a great start to holy week at the Cathedral".
