Paul Coll plays in the British Squash Open this week at career-high ranking of 16th.

He is expected to make an impression against the world top players after a string of recent impressive performances overseas.

Squash New Zealand Director Sam Crawford said Coll's draw was challenging, but he had beaten top 10 players recently and trained well.

For his first game Paul Coll is drawn to play against Wildcard Declan James ranked 36th, who he lost against three years ago in New Zealand.

Coll said he was keen to avenge the defeat on James' home soil.

Crawford said the key to Coll's recent success was his determination and the amount of effort put in to perform at a consistently high standard.

After the Open, Coll has matches in Egypt, before he competes in New Zealand's senior nationals in June.
