Today is the last day TVNZ viewers will be able to enjoy a free Les Mills workout class as the broadcasters will be removing them from on air and on demand.

Over 1,500,000 viewers tuned into Les Mills exercise classes on TVNZ or TVNZ OnDemand over the past month.

TVNZ Director of Content, Cate Slater, says the move to put some form of exercise class online was to help peoples physical and mental health.

"We are really pleased to know from all the great feedback that these classes have played a role in keeping Kiwis moving and happy.”

TVNZ spokesperson confirmed the various rights needed for the TV broadcast comes to an end today, May 1.

Les Mills creative director, Jackie Mills, says the focus was on more than just Les Mills gym members who miss their regular classes.

"All Kiwis are confined to their homes right now, so we were delighted to be working with TVNZ to offer Kiwis our world class group fitness workouts."

'Born to Move', a Les Mills class designed for children to follow, will continue to play on the Ministry of Education’s ‘Home Learning TV’, for the foreseeable future.
