Christchurch District Health Board shuts down Hagley Park parking despite member's protest that parking is more important than cricket.

Health board member Jo Kane said she valued hospital car parking over cricket as the idea of creating car parking in Hagley Park was shut down at today's meeting.

The health board has been criticised over the lack of parking spaces around the hospital.

Chief executive David Meates said a permanent parking solutions was unlikely before 2019.

A 'park and ride' service remains the temporary solution. It allows people to park on Deans Ave and catch a shuttle to the hospital.
