The Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board has reviewed a crime prevention report for the Bus Lounge after years of complaints about youth behaviour.

The local board will set up a working group to review a report for the bus lounge despite a drop in complaints.

The crime prevention through environmental design report makes eleven recommendations to improve security and monitor the area.

Chairperson, Mike Mora, said although complaints have died down, it is still a concern for the board.

"We just want to make sure we've taken every practical step possible to actually make it a safer, more user-friendly environment".

A local business owner, who did not want to be named, agrees that the area is safer but is still backing the report.

Mike Mora said the working group will be made up of board members and it will start considering the report recommendations as early as next week.
