The former Health Minister is giving up the game.

Jonathan Coleman is taking up a new role in the private sector as CEO of Acurity Health Group.

The Northcote MP has been a member of parliament for 13 years and spent nine of those as a Cabinet Minister.

He says he feels fortunate to have had a long career working closely with two great Prime Ministers - John Key and Bill English.

He is the third high-ranking National Party former minister to quit since the election - the second to leave after missing out on the leadership role.
