2024’s Miss Canterbury, Paige Sullivan held the official sashing ceremony for this year’s finalists at her charity fundraiser.

The fundraiser, Fashion for Hope, was held for the Te Tahi Youth charity, bringing awareness around mental health. The event finished up with the announcement of the Miss Canterbury 2025 finalists; were Sullivan (pictured bellow) presented each girl with their own sash.

The lucky ladies come from all walks of life, representing the diversity of women throughout the Canterbury region; which is an aspect Sullivan wants to instil into the pageantry world.

“Pageantry is definitely changing for the better, and I really want to be a part of that through Miss Canterbury.”
Paige Sullivan

Sullivan highlights her experience through the pageant last year as transformative, helping her build confidence and long-lasting friendships with fellow competitors. She hopes to give the new lineup of ladies the same experience as she hosts this year’s events.

Beauty is no longer the focus of Miss Canterbury as the world of pageants continues to transform. Instead, the contestants instead must turn their focus onto community work and charity fundraising.

The age of the contestants ranges from 17 to 30, with most emphasising mental health and community as driving forces behind their decision to run for Miss Canterbury.
