Metro News - Compilation

Rachael Pitts

A news program produced by second-year journalism and screen/TV students.

I was one of the two Technical Directors for Metro News. This meant I was responsible for making sure everything on the technical side was running smoothly.

On a day-to-day basis, We would do a camera line up and check all of the lights were working in the studio, then I would get the Live-Cross set up with the assigned cam-op, organise the stories on VT ready to be queued up, and then be present and run VT during the live record.  We were also in charge of assembling the set to how our directors wanted and light rigging the studio.

Along with this, I was also the backup field cam-op as we were running on a skeleton crew compared to previous years. I shot two stories and covered some b-roll and an interview for another.

Technical Director - Live Record

During this live recording the HDMI cable was actually faulty. So I had to jump up and fix it while we were in a VT story.
