Liam Strickland has been arrested

The manhunt for Liam Strickland is over as he was arrested by the Canterbury Armed Offenders Squad on Friday evening.

Police had been looking for Liam Strickland since August 7 in relation to a hit and run in New Brighton where 46-year-old Dean Amies was killed.

The investigation into Amies’ death continues.

Acting District Commander Superintendent Mike Johnson said in a media release that the Canterbury Armed Offenders Squad located and arrested the 21-year-old on Friday evening.

"We would like to thank members of the public in Canterbury for their assistance and understanding while police have made proactive enquiries to locate him.”

Police have no further information at this time.
