ERSATZ Automotive

ERSATZ Automotive is a passion project of mine outside of Broadcasting School. It's an instagram page and YouTube channel that I run in which I upload anything automotive related.

It's a project that has helped me develop my knowledge and understanding especially with a specialised area like automotive cinematography. I started out taking stills and shooting cars that belonged to friends of mine or cars I spot in public. In essence, it is a place where I can document my progress, learn, and push myself to do better than the last piece of content I've uploaded whilst sharing the cars and community here in Christchurch.

Below is a short video I did on a friend's 350z just to experiment with the Insta360 camera from Broadcasting School. I mainly used it to get action style shots like filming the car's wheels and video game style perspective.

I value the time I put into this page because it gives me the chance to experiment with different styles of shooting, audio mixing, editing, and etc. The learning I get from running this page is something I carry over to the next project no matter how big or small. I hope to grow this into a business and hub for Christchurch's car community by creating more videos that tell stories about car enthusiasts and their vehicles.
