Canterbury batsmen face the Central District Stags in the second day of the Plunket shield in Nelson.

The team look to add to the scoreboard already with 297 runs for six wickets in yesterday's match.

Peter Fulton contributed 110 runs to the teams total, scoring his 16th first class century for the team.

He said it was good to spend a bit of time at the crease and contribute to the big total.

"As a batsman it's your job to get out there and score runs but it's always a nice feeling to contribute towards good performance for the team," Fulton said.

Peter Fulton said the team looks to continue their good streak with Tom Astle and Cam Fletcher taking the pitch this morning.

The second day of the four day match begins at 10.30am at the Saxton Oval.
