DoP | Plight of the Penguins | Documentary

Jack Bouchier

A documentary short film following conservation efforts for the Yellow Eyed Penguin on the Otago Peninsula

As Director of Photography for this documentary, I captured majority of the pictures featured. We interviewed a researcher, Dr Thomas Mattern and visited Penguin Place, a centre for conservation and tourism with the Yellow Eyed Penguin.

I loved having the opportunity to observe nature for this film, and learning the patience of sitting and waiting for nature to take its course. This was a refreshing way to work in contrast to manufacturing the action in something like the context of a drama.

I'm proud of the story we were able to tell here and the pictures I was able to capture.
