After discussions with those in the Muslim community, the Crusaders, in partnership with New Zealand Rugby, have decided to review the brand with the help of independent research company, Research First.
Since March’s terror attacks, the brand and its provocative logo of a medieval sword-wielding Crusader have been questioned.
CEO of the Crusaders, Colin Mansbridge said Research First will be tasked with two options for the future - retaining the name but altering the related imagery or a complete overhaul of the brand.
One of the immediate changes is the pre-match entertainment of the Crusaders horsemen will be removed from home games.
