ChristchurchNZ aims to grow regional GDP

Emma Turton

Agency charged with the city's tourism and economic development pushes raise Christchurch's GDP by 23 percent within 10 years.

ChristchurchNZ chief executive Joanna Norris presented the agency's Statement of Intent at the Christchurch City Council's Finance and Performance Committee Meeting on Wednesday.

"Our purpose is to grow the economy for all; international, domestic and our people," Norris said.

The agency's 10-year goal is a stepping-stone on track to reach a total GDP of $26 billion by 2031, which ties in with the regional Christchurch Economic Development strategy.

Norris said ChristchurchNZ would "act with impact to use resources effectively and efficiently to make a difference to the community and grow the economy".
