Christchurch buildings won multiple awards at the New Zealand Wood Resene Timber Design Awards last week.

Some of Christchurch's newest architecture has won big in a New Zealand wide competition.

RM Designs won the Engineering Innovation award for their work on Bealey Lodge at the New Zealand Wood Resene Timber Design Awards last week.

RM Architectural Designer, Rachel Shepperd said they didn't think they won after seeing the other entries.

Rachel said the award gave RM a great chance to get their name out there and grow their network.

Cathedral Grammar Junior School also took out two big categories: Commercial Architectural Excellence and Resene Overall Supreme Award.

Cathedral Grammar's Business Manager Jeff Kane said the building was unique, fun and great for both teachers and children.

The Junior school features a roof deck overlooking Hagley Park with a large slide down to the open courtyard.
