Three Christchurch cycling talents will represent New Zealand at the junior world championships.

Kate Smith and John Scott will be joined by 17-year-old Matthew Trenchard from Burnside High School at the UCI Junior World Cycling Championships.

They will join 10 others from around the country to compete in Shenyang, China, in August.

Smith was in the junior woman's pursuit team that won gold in the junior world champs, while John Scott was in the winning men's pursuit team, which won in world-record time. Trenchard will join Scott in the men's pursuit team.

Head Coach Jon Andrews said he was excited to work with the talent selected this year.

A female endurance team, male endurance team and a sprint cyclist will be heading to the championships.
