Post lockdown has created a new space for sustainable, NZ made clothing in Christchurch.

Importing new products to the shop wasn't an issue for the New Zealand-made, and-owned brand KILT after the Covid-19 lockdown.

The High St shop manager Brinkley Blake said the lockdown was almost a blessing in disguise, as she had seen new growth in people wanting to invest in Kiwi-made and designed clothing.

The shop had an already well-established following since the brand started 19 years ago, Brinkley said.

She said KILT's motto #actuallymadehere gives it a point of difference in a world where a lot of New Zealand designs are manufactured overseas.

It was not simply a gimmick. It allowed people to be confident that everything they were wearing was designed, made and produced in this country, right down to the merino wool.
