Bloomfield peaks in Google search trends

Over 100 people are searching Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield per day.

According to Google Trends, Bloomfield has increased his average from just one daily search on December 15, 2019, to 100 searches on April 5, 2020.

Yesterday, Bloomfield hit 100 searches at 1:04 pm NZT. The peak is likely correlated with the 1pm update.

The regions to search Bloomfield the most in New Zealand yesterday were Tasman (100 searches), West Coast (62 searches), Manawatū-Whanganui (61 searches), Taranaki (61 searches), and Northland (60 searches).

While internationally, Bloomfield has received hits in countries including Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and even Slovakia.

Bloomfield has had a rise in popularity since heading the 1pm COVID-19 updates.

Earlier this month it was reported a Dunedin company was selling T-shirts of the director of health.

A rap song created by Jordan Mooney, who plays Eric on the TV show 'Westside' also blew up this month praising Bloomfield.
