The Canterbury A&P show just got a whole lot more accessible for Kiwi families doing it tough after another Covid lockdown.

The 2021 New Zealand Agricultural show has confirmed children will access the rural event for free.

In previous years, the show had been free of charge for children aged five and under, but that now extends to include everyone under the age of 18.

Event director, Geoff Bone, said making it free for kids to attend will be a win for everyone.

"Any family event benefits from the smiles and happiness of kids having a good time," he said.

The events organisers hope that this will increase the turn out.

With the show being New Zealand's largest gathering, Bone said they accept that Covid-19 restrictions still may derail their plans. However, they will keep a positive mindset and focus on doing everything they can to deliver an exceptional event.

The Show, which is in its 158th year, is in the calendar from 10 to 12 November. The free access for children applies to all three show days.
