The annual competition will see some of New Zealand's newest and best surfers compete over the weekend.
The three day festival will display an array of vintage surfboards in New Brighton mall.
Bands, The Wendys and The Chillers will be playing at the New Brighton Club on Saturday night as part of the surfing weekend.
The competition will finish on Sunday at 7pm.
