The first of four pool games for the Blacksticks starts today as they come up against a talented Scotland side.

Captain Stacey Michelsen will be joined by the experienced Anita McLaren, both of whom will play their third Commonwealth Games.

The Blacksticks women have, over the years, had frequent visits to Commonwealth Games podiums. They finished with a silver medal in Delhi in 2010 and bronze at the Glasgow games in 2014.

The Scots also have a host of talent in their lineup. Sarah Robertson, Amy Gibson, Nicola Cochrane and Amy Costello have all represented Team Great Britain.

New Zealand, who is seeded 4th in their pool, is closely followed by Australia in 5th. The Kiwi's will also play Canada and Ghana.

The Blacksticks play Scotland at 1:30 pm today on the Gold Coast.
