Safety of endurance sport

We admire athletic feats and heroic quests for gold, but the consequences can be serious.

Etched in Commonealth Games history, a Scottish runner leading the marathon, then collapsing in the gutter, unable to speak, rushed to hospital with total exhaustion.

It's cases like these that put the safety of endurance sport in question.
