Filling out those inconvenient departure cards will be a thing of the past by November.

An electronic system will replace paper-based departure cards at New Zealand airports.

Customs Minister Meka Whaitiri said the cards were no longer needed to account for all passengers crossing the New Zealand border

The new system would give travellers a smoother and faster travel experience.

The New Zealand Customs Services would notify passengers of the exact date of the change closer to the time.
