Police and a St John ambulance attended the scene at 8.10am.
The female pedestrian is in a serious but stable condition at Christchurch Hospital.
A Go Bus spokesperson Nigel Piper said the bus driver was shaken after the incident and being supported bu colleagues.
Main North Rd has been cleared and traffic has returned to normal.
The Serious Crash Unit will be investigating.
