ECan will not join the trend of letting pets and owners travel together on public transport.

The Greater Wellington Regional Council will allow pets and owners to travel on off-peak hour buses and trains come this July.

Environment Canterbury says it's not considering letting any other pets on public transport other than guide dogs and guide dogs in training.

All pets including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, and even baby goats will be allowed to ride public transport for free in Wellington.
