The New Zealand Broadcasting School will launch its annual 96.1 station tomorrow.

Every year, the school's radio students are split into three groups to pitch their own commercial station ideas.

The station is chosen by leaders of the media industry who fly down to Christchurch to listen and judge the proposed stations. Last year the chosen station was Summit 96.1 and the year before that was Chalk. Other well known stations have been Jacked and Chalk FM.

Programming Director Brynee Wilson is both nervous and excited about the pitches and year ahead.

"I'm pretty nervous for the pitches but it's all a great experience and I'm looking forward to the final result and cranking into this Years 96.1 station," she said.

This year's station-ideas are Embr; an Alt Pop station targeted at young professional women, Fuse; that plays Hip Hop and EDM aimed at the young men of Christchurch and Echo which is an alternative music and talk based station. Pitches are tomorrow and the launch date for the station chosen is the May 8.
