Rock painting, hiding and finding is the newest craze taking off with New Brighton kids.

Kids are getting involved in a new craze and this time it's not electronic.

Rock painting and hiding is taking off in New Brighton with heaps of families getting involved.

The idea is that you paint designs on rocks and hide them on public land in the suburb for other people to find.

The initiative is proving popular, its Facebook page boasting nearly 400 likes.

There's even an event on 11am Saturday at the Rawhiti Domain where kids can paint, hide and find their rocks together, with prizes avalible.
