The new station doubles as a fire engineering training facility and has been built as part of the Greater Christchurch Rebuild programme, which includes upgrades of 12 stations.
Fire service communications adviser Jess Chaplin said that the programme "ensures we have the right resources in the right areas, and that we are meeting the needs of the community".
The new station will open officially on June 6.
