Learning support staff protesting across the country

Elizabeth Thomson

Counselors, speech language therapists and other learning support specialists are demanding better pay and working conditions.

Learning support workers will gather at 11.45am on the corner of Durham and Hereford St for a protest march.

The New Zealand Educational Institute (NZEI) union has encouraged parents, teachers and students to join the staff in their strikes.

Those attending are encouraged to wear purple to the event.

This is the the second education strike in just two weeks as last Tuesday teachers also asked for a 16 percent pay rise and better working conditions.
