Housing agency approves of government funding

Housing Christchurch has welcomed the proposal of some $50 million to address the challenges faced by those without homes.

The prospective funds would go towards budget advice, housing, and counselling.

Statistics suggest there are approximately 200 people living on the streets in Christchurch.

Housing Christchurch spokesperson, Nicola Fleming, said the city's prevalent homelessness issue is being taken seriously, and that there are measures in place to see the end of it by 2020.
