Hundreds watched on as horses paraded around Hagley Park on Saturday in the second annual Jump for Cancer.

The event is an attempt at a different way to raise money for the Breast Cancer Society.

Christchurch Boys' High School old boy and cancer survivor, Jake Bailey, is an ambassador for the event and said it was great to see some show jumping in Hagley, while getting the community behind a worthy cause.

Bailey, author of "What Cancer Taught Me", is now based in Australia and gives speeches about his experiences.

"I'm just so passionate about this cause [Jump for Cancer] because it is a fantastic organisation.

"They're doing a great job with the work they're running and making a real difference in the community," Bailey said.

"I think it's a great opportunity for the community to get involved in the change they want to see."
