As the Friday to Monday weekend approaches, plenty of events are on the cards for Christchurch.

For the kids, Jellie Park’s set to host their big inflatable course from 12-2:30pm over the entire weekend.

The Easter Bunny’s also making an appearance at The Palms Shopping Centre on both Saturday and Monday from 12pm to 3pm, but in the meantime, there’s a scavenger hunt for you to complete with an Easter egg reward till Tuesday.

But that’s not his only appearance - as the Easter Bunny’s also appearing all weekend over at Riverside Market from 10:30am till 2:30pm. There’s also an egg hunt on Friday, an Easter Grotto for photos and four prize packs to be won.

For the whole family, Christchurch Agricultural Park is hosting The Christchurch Easter Show for all four days over the weekend, 10am to 4pm. They are set to have amusement rides, market stalls, live music and much more.

All Souls Church in Merivale is running their Super Sonic Ginormous Easter Egg Hunt from 4-5pm, free for all ages along with some afternoon crafts.

And for those staying local there is still more to look forward to, including Bobby Wayne’s famous Southern Eats Chicken & Cornbread on Pages Road, confirmed to be open on both Good Friday and Easter Saturday as normal.

But for those planning an Easter getaway, Police are urging motorists to stay safe on the roads this weekend.

Superintendent Steve Greally, Director of Road Policing, says despite a decrease in injuries and death over February and March, drivers can do so much more to stay safe given the disappointing start to the year so far.

“Those split-second decisions when driving can put a life in the balance. That’s why it’s important not to overlook them wherever or whenever you’re travelling.

“It takes a second to either put your seatbelt on, share an Uber home or have a sober driver on hand, decide to leave that text or call alone, and slow down on any road.”

Whether you are spending Easter close to home or travelling, stay safe and make the most of the long weekend.
