A Christchurch man was reported missing on Sunday night after he failed to return from a dive near an area off the peninsula known as Shark Tooth Point.
Coastguard and Land Search and Rescue searched for the man in the area yesterday.
Police cannot confirm the body is of the missing snorkeler.
Formal identification is currently taking place.
