Williamson and Nicholls will start the day with a 117 run lead 

The Blackcaps have made an impressive start in the first test against England.

The NZ cricketers are in a commanding position ahead of day two of the first test in Auckland.

The Kiwis got off to a quick start, bowling out the English in the first session for 58 runs.

Trent Boult and Tim Southee pulled apart the visitors, with Trent Boult taking career best figures of 6-32.

In reply, the Blackcaps ended the day on 175-5 with captain Kane Williamson finishing the day on 91 not out.

Ross Taylor and Tom Latham worked hard in the middle order but their wickets fell late in the day. 

Williamson and Henry Nicholls will start day two at the crease with a 117 run lead.

The action resumes at 2pm today at Eden Park.
