Christchurch's newest gallery is here to support emerging artists of all kinds.

The 12m X 6m space is available to hire by the week as an artist run exhibition space and is also available for hire by the hour for use as a dance and theatre rehearsals, photography studio, performance and workshop space. It is in the same building as the Darkroom bar, and music merch shop, Ride On Super Sound on St Asaph street.

Art Hole Curator Annemieke Montagne says the space used to be Next Gallery, but when the Darkroom and the gallery changed ownership, they came up with the new name.

“We just asked around. It’s kind of funny because our friend just commented as a joke and we thought that it’s kind of funny and great and stupid but it kind of over arches what goes on in here,” she said.

The gallery has an exhibition planned each month and are still looking for more. The show starting next week is with Stephanee Terris, an illustrator who will be the first person to show her work in the re-branded gallery other than Annemieke.
